My GTi on 13inch rs8s

Post  bodieanddoyle on Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:55 pm

well this is my GTi, I just love driving it. saved from doom at the breakers yard, done a fair bit of welding to her. lowered 30mm (total geuss Very Happy ), there's a fair bit gone under it, built in 3 weeks for a trackday. rolls the 13" watanabe RS8's on the road, steels on track (cheaper tyres).

all about offset. allegedly they are et6's, came off an ae86. I have never measured them, but they are more like et15 to look at.

I like the graphics- child of the tasteless 80s me Very Happy
now the boost, maybe. getting used to its terminal lack of grip it has first. Slid all over an airfield trackday on 185's and its not that far off stock!

Hey,

I like wheels, mate.
It looks wide... what J is it?
I think reg says one of the latest Gtis.

You know what you can do when the Gti body gives up!
I have started my wirings so I shall start engine this summer!
When I get it done, I think I will be eager to drive it...

Cheers
Atchi

I'll have to weigh one for you, they are very, very light! Less than a stock steel with no tyre easy.

Certainly is Laughing

Oh, Atchi, they are 6.5j rims, look wide but have bags of offset. the 165 tyres help a bit too. the body has given up once on this already, I couldn't beleive how these things like to rot!!! Shocked

Hi Edd,

What tyre size is it?
165/?-13... mk1 came with 165/65-13 and I had 165/55-14 on my mk1.
It was Sirica compund tyres so it was really good.

Cheers
Atchi

Long time to reply to this, but just under 8.5kgs each. Stock steel with 185/60 14 tyre weighs 14kg on the same scales.

Atchi, you are right- they are 165/65 13. They are uniroyal rain experts, and if you shop around they come in at under £24 each + vat.
