1.0 ECU - Chipable?
If i was wanting to run a turbo setup or around 3-4 psi on the GLS engine would i be able to get a chip made for the standard ECU?
if not then im buying a standalone for it.
This is just for a cheap bit of fun.

ummm how about getting the turbo bits for the car from us? they had G10 turbos as stock there, i think it would be easier

Hi,
You will have an issue.
In order to get G10 to turbo, you will need cylinder head from G10T engine.
G10 NA engine has single point injection system and G10T has Multipoint in cylinder head.
UKDM G10 have casting to machine for injectors but I'm not sure how much more is involved.
Don't get me wrong, I'm making a kit for T25 turbo off Saab900/9000 with my spare G10 engine I got. I have flanges cut already for G10 to make a Log style manifold for G10.
I also making inlet mmanifold with injectors for G10 kit. So it won't be cheap option.
G10 will be good enough to make 180 Bhp provided Gti conrods are used.
I have a set of Vitara pistons from 8v engine so these will do the trick for more pore!
I will be using MS to run mine, I think.
There are so many UKDM G10s in Swift, I want to make a kit just for fun.
Cheers

180 bhp from a 1.0 ? That's crazy.
I'm doing the wrong conversion haha.
What parts would be needed for this and at what cost?
Would you be able to give some estimated prices and where to get the parts from?
Thanks Ryan.

Hi,
I have everything in my garage apart from MS.
I have flange already cut and start to make a log style turbo manifold.
I have bike TBs with Injectors.
I have spare GTi conrods, G10 engine, full wiring harness, std ECU, inlet manifold and so on.
All I need now is time to take engine to machine shop to bore it out.
I'm too busy with my work and everything!
Cheers

You can't turbo a car with tbs can you?
I have everything inc spare conrods from a Gti. Have not got but piston though. I take it you can use a Gti gearbox?
You'll have to explain some more
sorry for sounding stupid!

Re: 1.0 ECU - Chipable?
Hi,
I'm not sure any of you remember Daihatsu Charade Gtti.
It was 993 12v engine(3pot) with turbo.
As it was std setup, it gave out 100Bhp.
With not much mod, it gave 180Bhp.
I know some of them are getting near 250-ish.
So, it is possible. I don't know why Steve is saying keep it with Gti engine?
As many of you know Gti is getting rare. So if you use engines which are cheap to buy and a lot of them.
It makes sense to mod it!
Cheers

Re: 1.0 ECU - Chipable?
I have GTi engine sat in the garage and a GLS engine.
The GTi is costing me alot of money (and taking alot of time) so want to break it up and do something with the GLS.
If i could get around 130BHP from the GLS i would be dog bollock happy!
Atchi, What would be needed/modified to work?
List so Far (from what i understand):
Vitara 8v Pistons - (Engine bored out for these to fit?)
Turbo Manifold (Can any exhuast specialist make this?)
Turbo - TD04/T25 be fine?
Modified Inlet with Injectors - (If i paid you would you make me one aswell?)
Gti Conrods
Head machined for multipoint? - (Is that correct?) G10T Head gasket required then?
Stand alone engine management
What other internals/parts are needed?
Thanks,
Ryan

Re: 1.0 ECU - Chipable?
Hi Ryan,
You can see how US boys do it here.
http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14646
Anyway, what I needs are following.
If I can get hold of spare G10 cylinder head, I will machine my own to take injectors.
I have 3 Gti inlet manifold so I was going to cut up and Tig weld to G10 single injection manifold.
So, it will using Gti TPS, MAF or aftermarket MAP sensor. Or I will make bike ITB with injectors to fit to inlet manifold flange I made from laser cut Aly plate.
I can get my engine bore it out to take Vitara pistons. I have 5x 8v pistons so if I can get hold of the other, I have a second set!
I have already started to make "log" style turbo manifold.
I have 2 sets of Gti conrods and I know I can get the other set if I ask person nicely!
ECU wise, I'm thinking of MS but I might contact US boys for std ECU.
Like I said, I have all the parts I need to make this happen... well apart from MS!
I will need to fit an oil return connection to an oil sump.
I have just bought TIG welder so I shall start practice.
Cheers

Re: 1.0 ECU - Chipable?
Oh Ryan,
I forgot to tell you.
You can turbo charge ITBs.
If you see R1 bikes, Hayabusa and so on with turbo.
That's what they are. By using single TB, it will make life easier.
I have option for both setup.
I think most difficult setup will be to make plenum chamber(did I spell it right?)
Anyway, this is another link of very nice engine setup.
