alternator problem

Hey I have convert a gls 1.3 8v swift into a gti, everything has worked apart from the car doesnt seem to charge the battery when its running, I used the alternator from the 8v engine thought they looked exactly the same etc and it worked fine before on the old engine but didnt seem to charge engine so i got a GTi alternator and put that on and it hasnt made any difference is there a fuse or anything that could be stopping it charging the battery? i baught a brand new battery last week aswell so its deffently not the battery

any ideas ?

Hi,

Have you connected all the wires?
There are 2 different wires to connect... I think.
1 plug and thick wire to main... also is there earth, too.
Sometimes, where plug is connected get corroded so look into it.
Have you got multi meter? If so, put it onto alternator to see if it is working or not.
It should give out 14v or so.

I dont think there is a earth :/

think its just a green plug and a black thick wire il have a look today though
