HOW TO CLEAN TAPETS
HOW TO CLEAN TAPETS
most of you will know what it sounds like to have a dirty or dameged tapet its not good and its a common prob on the swifts. it is a fairly easy job to clean them up.
1. first you will need to get your tapets out if you dont have a spare set
2.then you will need to take them apart simply turn them around and with a pair of pliers gently pulll the middle piece out

3.now thats out turn that upside down and do the same again with the smaller piston but take care as this time there is a little spring that will come out.

now you should have this 16 times

4. put the buckets and the 2 little pistons in a bowl of brake cleaner or even peteral and go and have some lunch while they soak

now that they are clean blow out all the little tiny holes in them as that is the main point of tis exersice and clean them up. then with the springs just pull them apart a tiny bit some people fit another smaller spring or a stiffer one to cope with higher rpms. i rev to 8600 and havent had a problem yet.

now put it all back together in reverse order and if you push the bottom when assembeled it should move smoothly and easily if it doesent youve done something wrong.
some of you may find that aswell as doing this you will need to have the top skimmed as the dip with time however this will be minimal. now enjoy the smoooth sound that isent the g13k lol

Re: HOW TO CLEAN TAPETS
You should lay them in oil too. Then it will not take so much time to get it running again:)

Re: HOW TO CLEAN TAPETS
you leave them empty to check oil pressure in the head it should only take 10 20- mins for them to fill up
