Re: WANTED: Swift 1L
The little 1.0's are awesome! I have 2 and bought one and broke it all for spares haha
Couple of tips, although you probably already know all of it (may help someone else???)
1) Knock the stupid pre-cat out! Its abit fiddly getting the exhaust manifold out especially with the heatshield bolts (long flat headed screwdriver and hammer then jet wash straight through) Makes a big difference all the way through the rev range its such a restriction
2) Front ARB is a straight fit just need droplinks, Rear needs holes drilling in the wishbones + holes to mount it in the middle
3) There is a big recall on all swifts (1.0's) for the front dampers (can use it as a bargain tool if there retarded?)
4) If it guzzles fuel its known for the cold start valve to stick on the carb
5) The front bumper bars rust like no tomorrow (Do not know if GTi's are just as bad????) Another bargain tool??
6) They need servicing every 6k
Otherwise get it lowered with some koni's and disc conversion and they are awesome handling little dailys (even better if stripped)
Ever need any 1.0 parts let me know

Re: WANTED: Swift 1L
thanks for the advise, i'll definately be smashing out the precat, and i'll check the cold start valve, whats the technique to free them up.
Im averaging about 50mpg driving easy, thats pretty good but was expecting more like 60 as i could get 50 out of my old gti if i took it easy.

Re: WANTED: Swift 1L
i used to get about 55mpg on the motorway, not goin under 70mph either lol. speed didnt seem to make much difference to mine mpg wise
still get like 45mpg ragging it
u can fit gti flywheel and clutch (lighter)
buy underdrive pulley
set of 12's
and it wud be a quick 1L

And to obviously make it lighter and a bit quicker off the mark.... in a small engine car it makes the world of difference, specially up hill
Not sure, I actually just swapped the whole carbon out if my spares

Re: WANTED: Swift 1L
ud race other 1L or similar, the lower saxos, corsas and chavs with 500kg bodykits
i can see the point as a daily drive and id own 1 if it wasnt 4 my job
steve how much is an a3 20v turbo compared to a 1L swift lol
lets face it most people that own 1l swift do so because there cheap to drive, insure, tax, fuel, repair.

Re: WANTED: Swift 1L
What the man said. If you can make a car go faster for free, remove pre cat and lighten it and if you more than likely own a 1.0 its because your young and insurance is a rip off! Plus everyone likes to kick a chavs ass now and again.
