air/fuel micture gauge????????
speakin to a lad at my local cruise last nite, mentioned id had the pressure regulator fitted n he said i should get an air/fuel gauge so to get the right mixture
says it runs of ur lamba sensor?
mk 2 phase 1 doesnt have a lamba dont think n mine has a aftermarket 4-1 anyway
he also said that i could burn my pistons rings and wreck the engine if its running too rich
can anyone elaborate on this?

Re: air/fuel micture gauge????????
Dont forget you can also ruin your engine if it is running to lean.
You got 2 different things, and that is cheap and expensive.
Cheap AFR gauges are gauge only. The more expensive ones come with their own lambda sensor. These expensive ones are in most cases wide band AFR gauges.
As you dont have a lambda, i would recommend a wideband that comes with a sensor.
If you do not have a place in you manifold for a sensor, some kits come with a bung that you can weld in.
Hope this is what you need.

either get a wideband sensor, or if your on a budget, take the pressure regulator off and put the fuel rail back to standard, if your running NA theres not much point messing about with that.

went through 3 std fuel rails so ended up gettin one made, but has been the biggest ball ache going
obviously got high fuel pressure
but were never like that b4
getting fed up now, stil can smell fuel in the engine bay, think theres a small leak somewhere
can u run a std fuel rail with the aftermarket pressure regulator? mite just opt to have it right

i went through 3 of the std ones so just thinking it will eat thru agen
were reading up on the std rail in the manual and it says it has like a vavle or something that send excess fuel back through the return line, and can send signals to the ecu to tell it its running too rich or too lean
the aftermarket one is just a tube lol
always smell likes it overfuelling even when its set right on the gauge and the idle screw is turned right down?
what cause it too overfuel???????
think my ecu mite need a play with its not a std one,

Re: air/fuel micture gauge????????
im wondering if thats why my car seams 2 blow oil out the breathers an in 2 the inlet causing it 2 smoke when i drive it hard in a straight line. it only ever does it when my piper fast road cams are fitted tho which is weird. well atleast i think its through the breathers and not the piston rings again, ill bypass the breathers and fingers crossed it wont smoke. this would be the second engine ive destroyed in 6 months i dont think i can take much more spanner time on the car its doin my nut in, i dont want 2 but im seriously thinking of selling it and being done with swifts all 2gether

wot would be the reason behind something like that going through the rails
i put the redex injecter cleaner thru it an stil nothing
could it be the ecu? and things need adjusting on it with it being aftermarket
havnt got a clue

blocked return pipe?
so pressure wud only increase until something splits/breaks.

Re: air/fuel micture gauge????????
could be that, ive never had a problem with the standard fuel rail no matter what pressure ive ran, and if your running the gti ecu you should run a stock rail with stock regulator so you get the right fueling.
and that isnt oil coming through your breather pipes, its petrol which is going past your piston rings and into the sump, i suggest you get it sorted quick and change that oil before the bottom end gives up.
