Justy gearbox help..

Post  stevieh6 on Sat Sep 03, 2011 6:11 pm

Hi, can someone tell me where the filler hole is for the gearbox oil on the 4wd gearbox? what do you have to remove to get to it?

Pull the speedo drive out of the top. its a 10mm nut, then fill with the right amount of oil. easier than doing from the filler plug in the side unless you have a hoist and oil pump.

The speedo fill option isn't the piece of cake it is with the 2WD box. I replaced my oil about a month ago and quickly decided the speedo drive idea was going to take longer as the gear was a bitch to remove.
I jumped underneath and used the factory filler hole.
I have a spare in the bedroom so it will be easy to take some pictures.
Should be up tomorrow...

On mine its exactly the same, took minutes, exactly the same as my old FWD.
Pull the boss off by undoing the 10mm bolt. dont just remove the drive via the circlip. This allows you to use a funnel and pour from above, rather than squeeze from below.

The fill plug faces towards the front of the car so that once you have unscrewed it a flexible hose allows you to do the "pour from the top" trick too.
