Re: anyone using wheel spacers?
I don't know how many sorts or wrong people must be inflicting on Hubs to buckle them while removing a wheel stud. The force generated in pushing or hitting them out is insignificant compared to the lateral and radial loads applied by the weight of the car at speed hitting a speed hump, pot hole or cat or turning, sliding or whacking a kerb.
I would advise against gruff treatment of the splines as if they are damaged they will need to be drilled oversize and larger diameter studs used.
As for alternate studs a cheap alternative would be to find a car with longer studs and use them, here I used 90m long falcon studs to replace 40mm escort studs on the race car. drilled the existing holes the right size and pulled the new studs in as per normal installation.

Cheers,
