Just welding a crack in an old ex mani and got thinking about welding a turbo flange on it where the down pipe bolts on
Has anyone done this before?

Re: std turbo mani
Hi,
I think it has flange to be in angle and welding cast iron to mild steel will need pre-heat.
If you want to try it, let me know as I have TD04 flange as well as T2 flange in 10mm mild steel.
I think oil return and everything will be still higher than oil pan so should be OK.
I think making one from weldable bend will be easier to make and you can make angle what every you want. I have tried to weld cast iron with arc welding rods after heating it.... not very pretty.
May be something to do with my skill
!?
I did use Cebora so welding machine was good and I used industrial oven to heat it up...
Oh well, live and learn. Good luck Gary. You are pro so you might do better job of it.
Cheers

Re: std turbo mani
If theres gona be an issue with oil return, could always cut it higher, all depends on what its like inside
Welding cast iron is ok atchi, like you say warming it is a good idea but use lots of gas, if there is a bubble it wont blow the weld as much
