MK1 rally

I said eleswhere that I would get some pics up so here is one as a teaser.
I took some more this morning after doing an all nighter in the garage doing the yellow but the phone battery has gone down and I am knackered. Got to go to work yet.

Its a non sunroof shell and despitet some small amounts of rust it is an easy fix. Most likley it will stay in the garage and be kept warm and dry in the event that I turn the rally car inside out.

Ok. After a top weekend away on Wales rally gb I got home to find entries are available for the longmoor loco single venue rally on 30th December. This rally is for 2wd cars only. So the entry has been submitted. I have navigated here about 5 times. It's always wet or icy. It's my first rally as a driver in nearly 10 years and obviously the first time out in this car although I do have a little text venue set up for the week before just to go through a few things. The best part is that my navigator has never done this before so we will either piss ourselves laughing or just piss ourselves.
Best I pull finger and get the car finished. Game on.

A big weekend over and done with. All the painting is done. Electrics sorted. Extinguishers in. Mot next week and Msa logbook. A little test session organised in 2 weeks. I will get a new pic of the finished article up next weekend

My entry was accepted for the rally and the car passed the mot with no problem. Unfortunately the gearbox has a mind of its own and it seems 2nd gear isn't needed. Now things are in doubt that I will make the start. I have a spare but no time to change it. Looks like there could be some late nights ahead.

If you need spare for mk1 Gti let me know.
I have 4 complete mk1 Gti gearboxes and 2 in bits so I should be able to help you.
Oh also, I know a guy with 4 mk1 Gtis and 1 of them is mk1 Cultus Gti!
He does rally himself over there and he is "MAD"!

I am taking the gearbox out of the spare car this week to get it ready to go in the rally car. As for the misfire, I think its a fueling issue so we will look at that later. I have just got off the phone to the navigator and we are withdrawing from the Xmas rally and we will try and do the rally at brands hatch in January.
Now for the silly question. What's the difference between the mk1 gti and the mk1 cultas gti

Hi Brian,

Cultus Gti even in mk1 form is 115ps(113Bhp).
It has better manifolds, camshafts and higher CR. Your mk1 Gti is 97ps(95Bhp) as a standard.
