What oil

Post  expatkiwi on Thu Nov 17, 2011 7:48 am

Time is getting near for the first event and as I don't trust those who went before me on the car I need to do an oil and filter change.
What oil peeps. I want to hold this engine together as long as possible before a rebuild( of which I am already making plans)
Cheers, beers hugs and kisses

While were at oil choices, the book recommends 5w30 for a standard gti engine but I intend to do a couple of trackdays as well as driving it daily. What would people recommend? step up to 10w40 semi or stay with 5w30.

The words from Bill are to use semi synthetic. Not an expensive one but its better to change the oil often rather than use a high price tag oil.
Sunday market here I come,lol

there is not expensive and there is cheap...dont use cheap.
I have to agree less expensive more often and dont let it have a chance to breakdown and soot up with combustion gasses etc and degrade though heat abuse.
I use a higher viscosity hot in a race engine...but I come from minis and old fords.
I use Mobil 1 in the roadies.

Tbh I would use Mobil anyway. All those years of advertising on peter brocks race cars in oz have paid off

Hell no. Steak, rare, the more blood the better. As for the energy polariser, my wife has one. It drains all the energy and life from me.
