why did you choose a swift

tell us what made you buy a swift in the first place is this a new love affair or has it been going on for years. could it be the little screamer under the bonnet of the chuckability of the tuna tin chassis maybe even tuning potential.Dont forget to post pics in the gallery aswell

When i was 16 I saw a swift gti at the local rally and i instantly said i would have one as my first car. A month lata i brought a gsi swift thinking i wouldnt be able to insure a gti. A month after getting it on the road a farmer in is 4x4 plowed into. (old blind bastard) I went and brought a gti then and since then ive tried to change to something else but i always get draged back in buy the power of a gti. I now have my road car and a rally car.

Well,

I wanted to own 2 cars before I get kids and those were Gen2 CRX Vt and Swift Gti.
I got carried away with CRX and sold it so that I won't kill myself with 2 small kids left behind...
I bought mk1 Gti off Ibrar thinking I can fit this engine into Mini and now I have 3 Gti engines and 5 mk1 gearboxes. I think I have enough spare to build my Mini!
3 house moves, 3 job changes and house near finish and 2 years later, I think I can restart my Mini build!
My mk1 is my daily driver and enjoy upsetting people !

well it all started wen i was about 16 my older brother was in the army and he came back from camp one weekend with his mate and he had a well nice swift gti and i just loved them ever since ive had three so far and dont fink im gunna change my ways my misses wants a swift wen she passes her test its like an infection lol,
the other thing is the fact of how fast they are for such a small engine i love it swift till i die lol??

insurance, insurance, insurance, but now.... they have grown on me 10 fold

i had a 1.0L swift and that wasnt a bad car beat most cars around the same engine size, all the typical chav cars, corsa's, saxo's, 106's.
very reliable 3 years and hardly spent a penny.

that made me look into swift gti's then seen the potential, light weight, and all the site dedicated to them just had 2 have 1. plus the low insurance compared to other cars of the same speed. spent about 18months lookin for one, finally brought 1 last week

Used to be into 205's then my mate turned up in mint black mk2 phs2, never thought of one before but the sound of it bouncing off the limiter at 8500 rpm
(it was chipped) had me hooked. Im on my 5th now even though I had cars inbetween i always go back to the swift

I originally wanted a Starlet but i did'nt have the cash. My idea was thus: find something fast, cheap and cheap to insure. I had a choice of 3 cars that i thought would make me happy:

1. Pug 205 gti
2. Pug 106 Rallye
3. Swift GTI.

My friend was scouting Ebay one day when he said "I want this". I then bought the car before he could (stealth) and here we are!

After driving one i think im hooked..

ah just realised i havent posted here. here we go then ever since i was 13 my dream car was a ek civic wheni was 15 my dad employed some polish builders who coincidently had that blue wide arch swift. theres some photos of it floating about on here. then one day in the local scrapyard there was a red j reg gti i immidiatly bought it £350 has suzukisport front and rear splitters superchiped and choped springs none of which new about at the time and 5 years and 4 swifts down the line here i am

what started it for me was a few car mags i had with swifts in wen i was 12 almost 13 i couldn't put them down for like 3 months then one come up at action really cheep and i got it for my birthday after alot of pas wading of mum from me and dad lol it was run down and had a burnt valve but with a little tlc well alot it is what i have today. but i have broght a few for parts all up Ive had 5 and my 6th on the way finely fond a awd

well i was looking for first car just over two years ago and as we all do i was looking at 1.0l cars mostly... there were few swifts but they were too much money for me at the time... so bought another car..

now a month ago after i got into uni i needed to downsize from my escort.. was looking at corsas as i had one and new it would be cheap to make a nice looking corsa...but one day i was looking ROAD WARS on sky one and they pulled a lad in a Suzuki Swift which looked rather nice so i went on internet and found a suzuki swift for 850 which was what i wanted to spend.... went to look at a car and got it for 700!

its only a 1.0 GLS but might be a gti powered one in a years time as i intent to keep the car atleast till i graduate...

my brother had a '94 Swift a couple of years ago, had 124k on it and a few months after he started driving the engine blew so he changed the engine for a low mileage one, then he defaulted on his insurance got pulled by the cops and the car got cubed, but ever since i first took a ride in that swift i knew i wanted one, for a 1.0l it was rapid!.

then last october the time came for me to move on from mopeds and get a car, was looking at 1.4 civics at the time but decided to have at a few swifts and low and behold one popped up in southampton for £1000.

best of all i like it because its unusual, you dont see half as many swifts as you do saxos corsas e.t.c.
