Remove Airbox....? (RedLineGTI)

I seen this on 'redline gti' just wondered if there is any down sides of removing the airbox, steps 15-18 i think.

will be a bit louder i run a cold air pipe form the side of the box to the front of the car wit that k&n filter only useful past 70 ish thats the only reason i would do it

are the k&n induction kits any good, iv herd there gd but iv also heard they do jack and drink fuel...?

there good in conjunction with other mods when your engine needs more air then will be best

the k+n is good, it sounds lovely, but when the engine bay gets hot it aint much cop
this is the setup i use
it never loses power on long journeys and when its the hot weather

yea that is good gary i would just worry about puddles and that in the winter on the pic of my old engine i had two cold feed pipes underneath thats another way was gonna take out the headlamp aswell at one point lol

tell me bout it
you can just see it poking out of the top of the fog light hole
theres a road that runs past the local uni that floods easyly
iv driven through it slowly and nothing happend, i think its a bit high to suffocate the intake completly

Removing the resonator chamber under the guard makes it purring sound at idle. As a cat lover I like it. Performance difference? Maybe but maybe not.
