Swift Gti Issues

Post  Samphierswift on Wed Dec 30, 2009 8:54 pm

Hi there, I've recently bought a swift gti after been blown away by how fast they were for such a small engine, my issue is my swift gti just isnt very fast at all, my mate took me up to buy the gti in his 214 rover standard and he just dicks the swift to my frustration.

Im new to the scene and dont no that much about cars but a few things to consider;

car hasnt been driven in 2 years
have been told is has a gls gearbox fitted
16" wheels

any reason why my car cant beat a 10second rover? cheers

gls box will do that longer ratios and 16s are too big for a swift 15s maximum 1.3 8v swift has a couple of sets for sale ang try get a gti box also. a good sevice cam belt etc. my mate used to have a rover bubble with the t16 2.0 turbo fitted and my mates swift gti was leval upto about 90

It spins 16's no problem in 2nd lol, and his rover is only a 1.4 ive been told the swift will do 0-60 in 8.6 but mine feels more like 11 Sad

yea it will spin them because youve probably got cheap low pro tyres that dont grip i guess. bigger is not better

it probabaly is 11 wiv that setup Laughing
get some 15" 50 195 max and a gti box and you wont believe the difference
to be honest you`v got a long road ahead of you, the wheels are easy
but the box isnt, they are very rare, then you got get it changed
good luck

Or try South West Transmissions on the Quayside at Exeter.
The number is on their website.
Really nice guy, helpful & knowledgeable.
