thats a strange one, try reseting the ecu and doing a diognostic and see if anything comes up. also check your oil and your timing. Is it a UK spec gti?

i think its 8deg at 800rpm.

To reset ECU remove the earth lead to the battery for 1 minute then re-attach (do this first). then start the car and run for 5-10 minutes.

On the fuse box by your right foot there is a fuse socket without a fuse in it which sticks out a little further than the rest. Put a fuse in it with engine off and turn the key to ignition on. The engine check light will flash in a kind of morse code, like once, then twice. Do this and let me know the flashing sequence and i'll look up what it means

did u reset the ecu 1st because i wudnt of, as it would wipe out the previous error, u will have 2 wait for the light to come on again then do the test again.

ok i will do im guna take her out again tonight and see if it does it im pritty sure it did do it last nite but had my eyes on the road thought i saw it flash once, i will also take it to my friends work shop and check the timing with his light.

i think the fuel pump mite be a bit dicky as some times it will start fine and others you mite have to turn it over a few times and pump the gas!
