do swifts have central locking?

If so, mines broken.

depends on if the 1st owner ticked the box or not
my 1st gti had it but the one i have now didnt, so i fitted the set form my 1st when she died
the easyest way to test if you have it is when you turn the key if it feels a bit hard to turn then you have it, it feels hard coz you are pushing/pulling the solenoid
if you dont have it them im sure theres a few gti`s being broke around the country, its a simple system and its controled with a small box under the dash
the most annoying bit is getting both the solenoids matched up so they dont start going crazy
the best way around that is not to take them off the rods inside the door, take the rods out with them

Thanks very much mate, also how hard was it to get your lancer wheels to fit, i'd like a set of them, of similar..

i dont think they are o/e lancer wheels, they just came off a lancer
they had no spigot ring so all i had to do was get some to fit the gti
theres usually some oz 5 spokes off a lancer on ebay if your after some like that
